Unique Optimism was born from a heartfelt desire to reimagine support services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. After years of working in the human services field, founder Ashley Wilson recognized a need for something different—a program that encourages adults to step outside their comfort zones and break free from autopilot mode, all while exploring their interests, building meaningful connections, and feeling empowered to take charge of their own stories.
For Ashley, this mission is more than professional; it’s deeply personal. As a former foster kid and youth, she understands the transformative impact of the right support. Her journey of turning challenges into opportunities inspires Unique Optimism’s vision to create enriching experiences—whether through fostering community connections, embracing outdoor exploration, or encouraging personal growth.

Ashley Wilson is the driving force behind Unique Optimism Outdoor & Community Support Services. With over 17 years of experience in the Human Services Sector—including more than 7 years supporting adults in group homes, family homes, and day programs focused on Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health—Ashley developed a clear vision for what was missing in the field.
Unique Optimism was created to bridge the gap between home, the great outdoors, and community engagement, offering a level of encouragement that often goes beyond traditional settings. Ashley’s goal is not to replace these invaluable services but to complement them—working in conjunction with the incredible existing programs in Hamilton, to provide tailored, 1:1 experiences that empower individuals to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new opportunities, and thrive.
